Mission statement 2021

No messing around here...no new year's resolution....just a mission, I have chosen to accept:

Let's start with a couple of clarifications and explanations:

  1. womxn = an alternative spelling to woman/women to be inclusive of transgender and nonbinary women

  2. as many as possible = not necessarily about quantity - quality of help, attention and service I give matters more; however, if the opportunity arises to support more womxn on larger platform, you can rest I assured I will take that opportunity

  3. professional = the primary focus is on a womxn's work and career, however, I will issue a warning that I cannot guarantee that personal transformation will not happen; actually, I can pretty much guarantee that any coaching or programme WILL result in transformation beyond the professional realm

  4. transformation = significant change; the transformation and it's beauty are in the eye of the beholder (the womxn who experiences it), however here are few possible transformation outcomes Internal: Increased confidence, self-belief, self-esteem, sense of meaning and purpose, resilience, wellbeing, energy; increased energy External: Career change, promotion; increased remuneration, leadership capability and capacity; improved professional relationships, performance, effectiveness in delivery of business outcomes

There's a couple of reasons......

1. Because I get it, I am that womxn

I was that womxn; the one that realised that life, including her career, was happening TO her. I wasn't consciously and intentionally choosing the direction I wanted. I wrote about this 'call to adventure' in a little more detail last year. I remember how it felt, I remember what I was thinking and I know I've talked to many womxn since who have validated that they are or have felt the same way. I remember thinking that something had to change. I didn't know what, but I started to seek answers internally (journaling) and externally (books, podcasts) and went from there.

Initially, my 'why' was that I realised that I couldn't expect my daughter to consciously pursue the life and career she wanted for herself, that aligned with her strengths, talents, passions and values, if I wasn't role modelling that for her. Otherwise, how would she know? 'Do as I say, not as I do' doesn't quite cut it, does it? I needed to become a true leader for her as her mother.

Over time, I have realised that I am worthy of having and living that life too. And so are you!

2. The Power of a Collective of Empowered, Conscious Womxn

The glass ceiling womxn have to break through to achieve certain things in their work, career or business is made up of a range of external system and societal gender-related norms and expectations. There is a lot of great work happening to make change, but changing these things takes time...a long time.

Some parts of the glass ceiling that needs to be broken is internal, within womxn....limiting beliefs, lack of self-worth, always putting others before self, not having enough time, not knowing who we authentically are, what strengths, values and skills we possess - we have not discovered and therefore have not owned our superpowers.

Imagine a group of womxn who individually see and own their superpowers, imagine how collectively they can rise up, empower other womxn and smash the ceiling together.

3. The United Nations, International Monetary Fund, World Bank and Melinda Gates UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 - Gender Equality

Specifically target 5.5 Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decisionmaking in political, economic and public life Read about why it matters here

Studies continue to show that when you lift a woman up, she has the power to change entire communities around her.

From the International Monetary Fund, through to the United Nations and the World Bank, research shows that greater gender equality brings greater economic growth—in developing and developed nations.

In the Conscious Womxn Project, I work with womxn to help them see their Superpowers, their Unique Unfair Advantage. Your Superpowers, your UUA is an activated combination of your inherent talents (strengths), skills and knowledge, life experiences, personal values and relationships. No two people on the planet has the exact same combination of these things. (The odds, according to Gallup, of having the same Top 5 strengths/themes of talent in the same order is 33.3 million to 1! Then you add in your unique life experiences, culture, skills, knowledge and values well....you get the picture...)

To deliver on this mission, I am drawing on my Superpowers, my Unique Unfair Advantage - a combination of my professional skills, my personal skills, my values and an epic community of collaborators, supporters and friends, all of which gives me everything I need to deliver on this mission.

But really, how?

  1. Conscious Womxn Programme - 1st cohort kicks off in February

  2. One-on-one Transformative & Strengths-based Coaching

  3. Collaborative efforts such as the work I am doing with Leadership Lab and Queenstown Lakes Women (and I am very excited about this!)

  4. Collaborative opportunities that I know that by creating the space and putting this out there, will emerge - if you or someone you know is delivering a programme, conference, retreat or mastermind for womxn and there might be an opportunity to get involved, get to touch to 'collabor-date' (we don't have to commit, just talk and get to know each other initially!)

I would love to hear any comments, suggestions or feedback, so feel free to pop me a message on social media or email fionadeehan@caraconsulting.co.nz

What's your mission for 2021?

Why that mission?

And how are you going to make it happen?

Vision without action is just a dream, action without vision just passes the time, and vision with action can change the world. - Nelson Mandela
